چکیده

Flow equations for dissipative quantum systems under non-equilibrium conditions This work investigates dissipative quantum systems by means of flow equations for Hamiltonians. We consider the time evolution of two models out of non-equilibrium initial states. As a first application the dis-sipative harmonic oscillator will be solved exactly. The insights gained will be used in the second and nontrivial model, the spin-boson model. A set of coupled differential equations will be derived that describes the time-evolution of the spin operators within approximations. Numerical implementations of these coupled differential equations are used to compare them with results from the non-interacting blip approximation (NIBA) and to calculate correlation functions in non-equilibrium. The thesis closes with a comparative discussion of the treated models and the closely related Kondo model.

Dissipative quantum mechanics using GENERIC

Pure quantum mechanics can be formulated as a Hamiltonian system in terms of the density matrix. Dissipative effects are modeled via coupling to a macroscopic system, where the coupling operators act via commutators. Following Öttinger (2010) we use the GENERIC framework (General Equations for Non-Equilibrium Reversible Irreversible Coupling) to construct thermodynamically consistent evolution ...

Slip flow in porous micro-tubes under local thermal non-equilibrium conditions

In the present work, forced convection heat transfer of slip flow in porous micro-tubes with local thermal non-equilibrium between the gas and the solid matrix is investigated numerically. For this purpose, the flow is considered hydrodynamically developed but thermally developing. The Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer model in conjunction with separate energy equations for the gas and the solid matri...

Can ”quantumness” Be an Origin of Dissipation?

In their constructions of system of quantum stochastic differential equations, mathematicians and/or several physicists interpret that the function of random force operator is to preserve the canonical commutation relation in time, i.e., to secure the unitarity of time evolution generator even for dissipative systems. If this is the case, it means physically that the origin of dissipation is at...

Quantum stochastic differential equations for boson and fermion systems — Method of Non-Equilibrium Thermo Field Dynamics

A unified canonical operator formalism for quantum stochastic differential equations, including the quantum stochastic Liouville equation and the quantum Langevin equation both of the Itô and the Stratonovich types, is presented within the framework of Non-Equilibrium Thermo Field Dynamics (NETFD). It is performed by introducing an appropriate martingale operator in the Schrödinger and the Heis...

On the Long Time Behavior of the Quantum Fokker-Planck equation

We analyze the long time behavior of transport equations for a class of dissipative quantum systems with Fokker-planck type scattering operator, subject to confining potentials of harmonic oscillator type. We establish the conditions under which there exists a thermal equilibrium state and prove exponential decay towards it, using (classical) entropy-methods. Additionally, we give precise dispe...
